  1. SPACE-NEWS: "SETI  RECEIVES  A  SIGNAL?"
  2. A  REMARKABLE  REPORT
  3. On Saturday the 10th of February 1996, at approximately 7:05 am, 
  4. a report was aired on BBC Radio 5 Live's morning news that should 
  5. have stunned the world into silence.  A report so profound that it 
  6. should have entirely changed the human races attitude to the world
  7. in which we live, and forever changed our perception of life, the 
  8. universe, and well, everything!  The report stated that the SETI 
  9. (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) project had picked up 
  10. an unusual signal coming from one of the planets that had recently
  11. been discovered by the Hubble Space Telescope.  The signal was 
  12. believed to be artificial in nature.
  13. With the above in mind it will undoubtedly come as a shock to some
  14. readers that apart from the BBC, I have only been able to find two
  15. other sources that reported what should have been the most 
  16. remarkable event in the history of the human race.  So why was this
  17. report not more widely covered by the mainstream news media?  Was 
  18. it a hoax, false information, a false alarm, or was there something
  19. more sinister behind the distinct lack of coverage?  In my opinion 
  20. these questions needed to be answered, so following in the footsteps 
  21. of countless other intrepid investigators before me, I set off in 
  22. pursuit of the truth.
